He is recognised as the first qualified Surgical Oncologist from Tata Memorial Hospital. Dr. Shetty played a pioneering role in the development of M.Ch. and D.M. oncology training programs at Tata Memorial Hospital. Throughout his career, he has performed more than 10,000 cancer surgeries across Navi Mumbai and Raigad.
